Happy New Year Single Ladies! A wise woman once told me that everyday is a new opportunity to reinvent yourself. That has helped me get over many bad days (or a bad period of time) when I want to kick myself for making a bad choice. Once I realize I screwed up, I tell myself tomorrow is the day I make it right and I work to repair it. Doesn’t work all the time, but you can’t beat the feeling of satisfaction when it does. The only reason many of us are stuck being who we don’t want to be is because we choose to remain the same. Don’t get me wrong, I like me.. in fact I LOVE me some me, but I will admit I have room for improvement. This year I am committed to not only correcting my missteps, but also avoiding missteps altogether. You are welcomed to join me.
I also wanted to take the time to share some of what this Single girl is loving right now:
Whether it’s shopping or social media, if you spend as much time on line as I do then you might just love Fancy.com as much as I do. This site is the place to discover, collect and buy the coolest things from a crowd-curated catalog of amazing goods and exciting stores , from glow in the dark nail polish to a glass pool table, and everything in between. I am actually loving their ‘New York Is My Boyfriend’ pouch. You can also get boxes of surprise items curated by the likes of Kelly Rowland, Ashton Kutcher and Pink. I have to admit the concept was a little confusing at first, but now I want to ‘fancy’ almost everything on the site. Check it out and let me know your thoughts.
I am also so excited that the series premier of Being Mary Jane on BET is finally here. If you haven’t seen the tv movie that set up what this series is all about, try to find it. If not, not to worry. I’ve seen episode one of the new series and it is everything!! The show’s star, Gabrielle Union, seems made for this role about a successful woman, who is very single. Mary Jane has men in her life, but the man of her dreams seems elusive. For those of us that can relate, get ready to cry and laugh along with Mary Jane as she tries to her happy. The series premiers January 7th at 10 pm/9CT on BET. Join me live on twitter during the show and tell me what you think.
Also, check out Food Network Chef Sunny Anderson’s new book, Sunny’s Kitchen: Easy Food for Real Life. I love to cook, but I’m no chef, so I love a great cook book for guidance. I’m featuring some of Sunny’s recipes on S&LF because I love her food and well, I’m kinda loving on her. She’s my new ‘Girl Crush’, lol. That’s because I had the pleasure of working with her right before the Holiday season and she is delightful! In addition to recipes, Sunny talks to S&LF about what she loves about being single and her new show launching this month on The Food Network. Look for that post later this week!
