Managing my Fit Factory NYC gym, teaching classes and coaching clients everyday takes a lot of energy.  My days usually begins at 5 am and I go, go, go until 8 pm or later.  How do I keep from passing out from exhaustion?    My secret weapon…  my Jazzy Super Green Smoothie.

Now before you turn your nose up, I want most of you to think about that time during your day when you run out of steam.  You are probably too busy to think about fuel for your body.   Well, having coffee alone for breakfast or skipping breakfast is a bad idea.  If you start your day with protein and fiber rich ingredients, you will set a healthy tone for the rest of the day.

My turning point came in 2010. I read an awesome book by Dr Alejandro Junger called Clean.  I did the 28 day cleanse and soon after was hooked on smoothies.  I mix my own concoctions on a regualr basis and from time to time I will share my recipes with you her on S&LF.  First up is my favorite mixture that delivers a one-two punch in the morning and gets you out the door in a single bound!  Give it a try and let me know how you like it, and more importantly How It Makes You Feel!

Jazzy’s Green Smoothie Recipe

1 cup of unsweetened almond milk
1 /2 package of Trader Joes Very Berry mix
1 cup of spinach
1 cup of kale
1 green apple
2 stalks of celery
2 tablespoons of chia seeds
2 tablespoons of flax meal
1 scoop of protein powder
To make it spicy add a half of jalapeño pepper

If I need a stronger punch I add a scoop of Shakeology instead of protein powder as it has 17 grams of protein and low sugar. See info here;
